Attention, Sound of Music fans!

I recently interviewed Johannes von Trapp – the youngest member of the von Trapp family made famous by the movie The Sound of Music – for a series of audio programs on travel.

Von Trapp is now 70 years old (pictured to the right) and both owns and runs the Trapp Family Lodge near the village of Stowe, Vermont. It’s a mountain resort that offers cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, gourmet meals, and a large, Austrian-style lodge. I haven’t been there, but it sounds pretty heavenly.

Even though we were talking about winter travel destinations, I had to ask him about what it’s been like to be a member of the well-known von Trapp family. (His parents were Georg von Trapp – known as Captain von Trapp in the movie – and Maria von Trapp, played by Julie Andrews.)

The second he started to answer, I thought, “Well, of course.” (As in: Duh, Mari.)

You can hear how he’s graciously trying to answer a question that’s kind of unanswerable...
